Father and son

Lt. Colonel Rinaldo Dall'Armi, commander of the Alpini battalion "Gemona", inspectioning the mountain battery of his son, Gino, on the Russian front, winter 1942-43. In background an old howithzer 75/13, almost totally useless in the plain of Russian steppes, like the same Alpini that were wasted on the Don river like simple infantry, when their use was of course projected fot the montainous Caucasian front. Lt. Colonel Dall'Armi (a traslation of this name could be Bythearms - nomen omen the Latins said) earned 3 silver medals, one in Greece, one in Russia and one in WW1 during the Ortigara battle. Hi son one silver medal and one bronze on the Russian front. DVX
