In flight over Ravenna

www.finn.it

In my opinion this well clear photo lend oneself to colorization: an invitation to expert! The aircraft is an Italian fighter Fiat CR.42AS (AS for Africa Settentrionale/North Africa) in flight over Ravenna, Italy, Spring 1942. Clearly visible under the engine cowling the larger anti-sand filter, sign that is an aircraft tropicalized for use in North Africa, and under the bottom wing the bomb rack. The under wing bomb rack and the absence of the wheel fairings suggest a CR.42 converted to fighter-bomber role for use in Libya. Victor Sierra
