Also know as 'Auto blindado chasis Chevrolet 37' were Spanish armored cars built in the Factory n.22 (ex-UNL factory). This vehicle used the chassis of the 1937 Chevrolet truck, and was inspired in the Soviet BA-6 and were built under supervision of Soviet engineers. it's believed that this vehicle overcomes the performances of the original model, the BA-6. Were built more o less 140 units and it’s an important quantity. There were two diferent versions: - The first version had a local build poligonal turret made from welded and bolted steel plates, mounting a 37mm PS-1 “Gochkissa” model gun (A direct derivative of the French Hotchkiss SA-18 used in FT17 tanks) and a 7,62mm DT machine gun in a non coaxial ball mount. - The second version had a Russian-built turret with a “M-1932/34/38″ or “20K” 45mm gun suposedly recovered from wrecked BA-6/BT-5/T-26. With two 7,62mm DT MG co-axial and hull mounted (Also in a ball mount in a bulge on the front plate). During the retreat of Catalonia, at least 7 vehicles, crossed the border. The French authorities saw that were an excellent armored cars and used them against the Germans. After the French defeat, the Germans took some of these vehicles (by the same reason, the found that were good) and used against partisans in Yugoslavia and Soviet Union. During the German retreat of USSR, some vehicles were captured by the Soviets. In the picture, a captured Chevrolet 37 used by Germans somewhere and sometime during World War 2.
