    Yes, he was in the "Von Rundstedt" league: sacked because he was too bright, and later recalled because of the same reason... But that's all a little vague: Guderian was sacked in December '41 after disagreement with the OKW( Supreme High Command)on the eastern campaign. He would hold no operational command whatsoever until being recalled in february '43 as Inspector-General of Armored Troops. He was again dismissed in March '45...
