SignalCorps**

American soldiers of the U.S. Army’s 9th Infantry Division pass through the center of the small village of Sainte-Marie-du-Mont during the Battle of Normandy as a French teenager in the background shows off his collection of U.S. Army pins, given to him by passing soldiers. Sainte-Marie-du-Mont was the first French village liberated on D-Day (6 June 1944), by elements of the U.S. Army’s 8th Infantry Regiment of the 4th Infantry Division and the 506th and 501st Parachute Infantry Regiments of the 101st Airborne Division.
