The commander of the 42nd Regiment of the 19th Latvian Waffen-Grenadier SS Division, Obersturmbannführer (Lt. Col.) Voldemārs Veiss (1892-1944) right, speaks with his soldiers.


Waffen-Grenadiers

"Watering Can": improvised AA mount featuring 8xMG81 machine guns. Despite having a relatively short barrel, the MG81 featured an incredibly high cyclic rate (often up to 1,600 rounds per minute. Most MG42s cycled at about 1,200 rounds per minute). At a factor of eight, that equates to a lot of lead in the air very fast. Effective against low-level strikes only.
