9th SS "Hohenstaufen" in Arnhem 1944

A StuG III of Sturmgeschütz-Abteilung 280 in the streets of Arnhem/The Netherlands, September 1944 after the failure of "Operation Market Garden". In the foreground three wounded British paratroopers. The soldiers of the involved SS-Divisions Hohenstaufen (9th SS-Panzer-Division) and Frundsberg (10th SS-Panzer-Division) treated their captured enemies exemplary. Lieutenant Colonel John Frost of the British 1st Airborne Division remarked: "We were told that they kill the prisoners or lock them up in burning buildings but these men were friendly, gallant and even gave consolation."
