My bad - but even in the Wehrmacht with that kind of a position he should've known for sure.

    Agreed, but he wasn't SS.

What I don't understand is why it seems like even the most ardent Nazis denied the Holocaust after the fall of the Reich. One would think they'd be proud of it? And somebody of his rank in the SS should've known about it for sure...

A most controversial personality. Certainly a brave soldier (battalion CO in the Großdeutschland division on the eastern front), played a crucial part stopping the attempt on Hitler, by the end of the war Major General and commander of the Führer escort division by the age of 32. After the war he remained a diehard National Socialist and Holocaust denier. He died in exile in Spain.

Nice photo of Remer - the man who could have arrested Goebbels on 20 July 1944, but didn't. This seems to be an example of somebody adopting a slightly unnatural pose in order to display his cuff title - which, as far as I can make out, is that of "Grossdeutschland" in Sutterlin script. His Close Combat Clasp in Silver, German Cross in Gold, and RK (Oakleaves) are also nicely displayed. Thanks, JR.
