German Paratrooper POWs during the invasion of Crete. This picture was, obviously, taken before the German troops managed to fully capture the island.

German POWs

Oberst (Colonel) Walter Gericke (1907-1991), Commander Fallschirmjäger-Regiment 11, later he led the 21st Fallschirmjäger-Division, awarded Knight's Cross with Oakleaves. British war captivity until November 1946. In 1956 he joined the German Bundeswehr and became a Major General and Commander of the 1st Airborne Division. (Bundesarchiv Bild 101I-575-1807-31A)
