    Stukas were a fearful weapon during the war. Although they were not a match for fighters, their dive bombing capabilities were put to good use. A top stuka pilot, who's name escapes me, destroyed over 200 tanks, etc. etc. and was actually shot down three times. The stuka had intakes on the landing gear that whistled and screamed while diving. Another unique feature was that the stuka had a mechanism that forced the plane to pull out of a dive at a certain altitude. Very good photo.
