   On its last trip, the U-532 submarine left Jakarta, Indonesia, in January 1945, delivering to Europe, among other things, tungsten, tin, rubber and caffeine. Being close to its destination, the commander of the submarine found out about the capitulation of Germany and decided to surrender and enter into British captivity; 05/18/1945.

 German submarine U-30 was a Type VIIA U-boat of Nazi Germany's Kriegsmarine that served during World War II. She mistakenly sank the British passenger liner SS Athenia, the first ship sunk in World War II, on 3 September 1939. She was retired from front-line service in September 1940, after undertaking eight war patrols, having sunk 17 vessels and damaging two others.

German submarine U-362 was a Type VIIC U-boat built for Nazi Germany's Kriegsmarine for service during World War II. 
The U-boat sailed from Hammerfest, Norway on 2 August 1944, on her fifth and final patrol and headed east across the Barents Sea, north of Russia. On 5 September 1944 in the Kara Sea, she was sunk by depth charges from the Soviet minesweeper T-116.  All 51 of the crew were lost

The German submarine U-601 took part in ten patrols, exclusively in the Arctic Ocean.
In November 1942, along with U-625 as part of wolfpack Boreas, attacked Convoy QP 15 and sank the Soviet cargo ship Kuznets Lesov.
She was sunk by depth charges in the Arctic Ocean on 25 February 1944 NW of Narvik, Norway by a RAF Catalina. All 51 hands were lost.

German submarine U-848 was  a long-range Type IX, with four bow and two stern torpedo tubes. 
  On 2 November 1943, she torpedoed and sank the unescorted British steamship Baron Semple, a freighter, NW of Ascension Island, in the South Atlantic. All hands were lost.
  She was intercepted on 5 November 1943, off the coast of Brazil, by the United States Navy aircraft PB4Y Privateer from Patrol Bombing Squadron VB-107. She was depth charged and sunk.

   German submarine U-100 was a Type VIIB U-boat of Nazi Germany's Kriegsmarine (Navy) during World War II.
The boat was launched on 10 April 1940, with a crew of 53, under the command of Kapitänleutnant  (Lieutenant Commander) Joachim Schepke. On her first active patrol, U-100 came into contact with two Allied convoys, OA-198 and OA-204. She shadowed both convoys.

Before surrendering on May 11, 1945, U 826 had been on operational duties for more than five weeks, participated in one war patrol that yielded no ships sunk or damaged.
The surviving 33 German U-boats formally surrendered here in 1945, ending the Battle of the Atlantic.

The end of the war in Europe on 7 May 1945 saw many of Germany's U-boat fleet still at sea. On 12 May, Varian rendezvoused with one of these, the U-805, and a party from the destroyer escort, led by Lt. (jg.) Earle D. Stevenson, USNR, boarded the submarine and brought her to the east coast.
The U-805 was operating in the West Atlantic as part of the Seewolf group, when she received orders to make for an Allied port in order to surrender. The U-boat reached Portsmouth, New Hampshire, where the crew surrendered and handed the boat over to the US Navy.

German submarine U-576 was a Type VIIC U-boat of Nazi Germany's Kriegsmarine during World War II. She carried out five patrols, sinking four ships of 15,450 gross register tons (GRT)and damaging two more of 19,457 GRT. She was sunk in July 1942 by depth charges from two US aircraft and gunfire from a merchant ship, near the East Coast (30 miles from Cape Hatteras, North Carolina) of the United States. The wreck was discovered in August 2014.

On 14 May 1945, she surrendered to the British Navy at Dundee, Scotland.
