Maybe the photographer is sitting in the trench becuase of a possible sniper?
The soldier is defenatly an American, how can you miss the Tommy gun and his .45? Besides, the photographer even wrote what it was, it's a registered US Army...
-
too bad they didnt fight or die for our freedom.
god knows what faught is...
-
gutsy. Gotta give 'em that
-
The photographer could have been German. It looks like he is hiding in a trench.
-
da hell...it's too far to recognize that soldier a GI or a German.
-
I don't know where these descriptions get dreamt up, but if he's 'going out on a one man sortie' how come he's heading toward the photographer? Duh.
-
Doesnt matter who he is, hes one gutsy guy.
-
He's not a german in his uniform... and he has a tommy gun.
-

I am always on the lookout for staged photos...this one does not make a lot of sense..a one man sortie?? The British, Poles, and Canadians also had Tommy Guns. The barb-wire fence is in too good of shape. My guess is this is a platoon of soldiers...

The barb-wire fence is in too good of shape. My guess is this is a platoon of soldiers moving up a few hundred yards one man at at time and he is heading for a gate in the fence to the left of the photographer...I suppose we will never know for sure.
