Chicki, read FTGs post more closely: He said the best man the AMERICANS or ALLIES had. With him, you always have to watch the semantics ^^

Oh Flame I disagree with you partly, yes Gen. Patton was the best of the best, but Field Marshall Rommel was so good that even General Eisenhower was saddened by his death. So Ol' Blood and Guts had competition. This was such a wonderful photograph that my grandfather (US Army Philipines front, 1910-2000) kept a copy of this the rest of his life. He loved Patton and was mad as hell (his words) that he ended up meeting McArthur not Patton. He said McArthur was an a**. lol

Yes, it was surely not a death that a great life-time soldier like George S. Patton would wish for himself. He said a lot of true and offending things. My favorite sentence of him is: "The germans are the only decent people in Europe anyway" (-:

patton was a born winner, he would probably kick your ass over losing a game of checkers though.he was tough war horse. kind of anticlimactic way to die, considering how he lived

General Patton. One of the best generals ever! But I'd still think twice if I'd ever want to be under his command.

"It is foolish and wrong to mourn the men who died. Rather we should thank God that such men lived." George S. Patton Jr. What an eloquent son of a bitch! (probably also one of his quotes)

General Patton was the best armor commander the United States Army ever had.

Patton was uncanny in his ability to make war. He was comparable to Sherman in that respect. Hands down the best general this country has ever sent to war.
