I always think of all those soldiers (whatever the nationality) who died in the latest stages of the war... Anyway, this is the first time I see a picture of a dead German whose STG-44 is still around (it seems he hasn't been searched yet).

I bet the soldiers standing around already had called the rifle for themselves. The photographer got lucky that he could take the picture before someone else grabbed the weapon. It kinda looks like he was turned around anyway (Look at the feet).
