This is a really terrible picture. I wonder what happened to the poor mother and baby.

Has the infant come from her arms ...or from her womb?

Actually is the most horrible of all photos. It seems that the child have been thrown out from the mom's ripped belly. And u watch for the crater...
Perhaps this picture should be removed...pictures like that should not exist for anyone's eyes.

Think it was a mine the blast can (can) throw the body a few meters but then again i;m no expert but can also be some other explosion the body mutelated clothing full of holes leg blown off, poor souls (is that a baby leing there ?)

yeah I agree no crater to be seen...what else can blow your leg off...

In some reading on about the War Between the States, including Sherman's March, I have seen that Sherman used Confederate prisoners to remove land mines. I did not find anything about the Confederacy stopping the use because of Sherman's threats. Please...

If saying the first use of land mines, period, was by the South in the US Civil War -- you are mistaken. I believe explosive devices, set off by the victims themselves, date back to ancient China, and certainly pre-date the US Civil War....

Sounds like Sherman would have made a great SS officer. He was a ruthless invader at the very least.

Well...the photo is very close and im wondering why the body should fall in or near a crater......

I'm just wondering where the mine exploded... There isn't a crater to be seen...
