Captured battle flags

Three US marines pose in their sandbagged position with a 37 mm anti-tank gun during the battle for Saipan, the largest island of the Northern Mariana Islands, in the western Pacific Ocean. The gun-shield is pockmarked from impacts of enemy bullets and shrapnel.
