F4U Corsairs and F6F Hellcats stored in a Navy dirigible hangar in Tustin, California before being shipped out to the Pacific (1945). About 12,000 Hellcats were produced in the first two years of production during the war, or over 16 per day. Given that it wasn't the only fighter being produced, it's an incredible number. The Mitsubishi A6M Zero had only 10,000 aircraft built from 1940 to 1945, and it was the main fighter aircraft for the Japanese air forces.
