Dietrich Bonhoffer

A fantastic German hero to admire: Dietrich Bonhoffer, Lutheran theologian who cooperated with the allies to try to kill Hitler. When captured, he refused to expose his comrads and was hung two months before the end of the war. After wrestling with the thought of killing, which was against his religion, he finally concluded "...it is better for good men to do evil than evil men to do good". -- Stolen from Dave's post
