Werner Schröer, Luftwaffe’s ace which ended the war credited with 114 victories included 26 four-engines bombers, claimed in 197 combat missions, view through the armored windshield of his Bf 109. The photo was taken on February 1943 when the Schröer’s unit, II./JG27 (II Gruppe/Jagdgeschwader 27), were deployed at Maritsa airfield, Rhode. Schröer, newly promoted Hauptmann in the same month, on 22 April 1943 was made Gruppenkommandeur of II./JG 27. Victor Sierra
