StuG III Ausf. B of Hauptmann Franke’s 3. Batterie of Sturmgeschütz-Abteilung 244 rolls into central Stalingrad, (possibly in Kurskaya Ulitsa). September 1942. Although the battalion was equipped mostly with long-barrel assault guns, severe shortages of ammunition for this vehicle’s 7.5cm L/43 KwK 40 forced the older short-barrel assault guns to be deployed continually in the street-fighting.
