 Sqd Ldr Drummond Wilson and his crew flew this bomber on Kristiansundt on the 22nd February, 24th March mine laying off Lorient and the Poissey Works raid on the 2nd April 1942. Look closely and you can see them listed on the notice board.

M4A3E2 Sherman Jumbo: "Jumbo" was the assault tank variant of the standard Sherman, upgrading frontal armor to 102 mm (4.0 in), with a glacis plate of 150 mm. Up to 7 inches of armor was applied to the gun mantlet. On this particular vehicle, the original 75mm gun has been upgraded to the higher velocity 76mm. Regardless of the upgrade in armor and armament (note the "plank armor" on the sides), a flank shot from a German AT gun has done this Jumbo in--German border, late 1944.
