Moving closer toward Paris

Troops of the 3rd Chemical Company throw up a smoke screen to conceal the crossing of the Roer River by the 30th Infantry Division of the U.S. Ninth Army.
  The Roer was crossed on 23 February 1945, near Jülich.

The Kerama Islands, some 25 miles west of Okinawa, were invaded on 26th March 1945. Men of the 1st Battalion, 306th Infantry Regiment, 77th Division, during the fighting.
