This photograph was probably taken in 1942 at Wolfschanze and is part of the Frentz collection now in the hands of the Ullstein in Berlin.

i was agreeing that our brother stevey is a bit too zealous in his hate preaching, but i didnt want to persuade a young white kid not to speak up for himself.that's worse

Okay, things have gotten a little disjointed for me right now -- I'm having trouble telling which post is responding to who or what...

yes, when i got back, i was a little shamed because there was no parade for my dad when korea was over.i think it hurt him too, but of course he was a good dad and was proud of me, and never said a word.i wanted him to gripe cause i was inside. i didnt feel heroic or a conquerer, i was glad i got it under my belt and didnt degrade my family name.im at a loss to explain what to do now, but i think its strange that my brothers kid( edmund elliott 82nd airborne)had to go fight the same bunch in 06 that i had to fight in 91

Certainly Hitler wanted and expected the UK to make peace...and when they didn't, making England realize it had no hope of winning became part of his justification for Barbarossa.

The only exception I can think of, Boxer, is McCain -- he certainly has paid his military dues. Personally, I think (and always have) that Iraq is a war we should never have gotten into. But not that we are in it...I am very concerned that military history and world politics are not of much interest to the majority of the American public, and they don't understand the potential consequences of a quick withdrawal. I won't claim that I fully understand such either, but I know enough to be concerned. So yes, I think the Politicians in general have been too quick to cater to the public-- in terms of getting into the war definitely, and terms of getting out -- we'll see. PLEASE note, guys -- I'm not looking for a war on this subject -- just stating my own (unauthoritative) opinion. And thank you, ptimms, for the info on the military background of Hitler's cronnies

that might have made sense, keep all your bases covered. war has to end sometime, and then everybody has to go back to being neighbors again, maybe good to keep some good blood flowing between them

I sometimes read that Hitler wanted to let the british escape at Dunkirk to create a basis for later peace negotiations with England.
