Reason to celebrate

This photo is certainly an image of its time and place. It’s from a newspaper dated 1945 and was titled “Hirohito gets the boot!” This plaster head was of Emperor Hirohito of Japan during WWII and placed in the foyer of the Hawaii Theater next to Florentine Gardens on Hollywood Boulevard (a couple of blocks east of Vine St.) At the time, an RKO picture called “Betrayal From The East” about Japan planting a network of spies and saboteurs in California was playing at this theater.
