No, all of them (Dietrich, Mohnke, Meyer) survived the war. During the battle of Berlin SS-Brigadeführer Wilhelm Mohnke was commander of the government district incl. Hitler's bunker. You're probably thinking of Fritz Witt, the original commander of 12th SS who was killed by a British naval artillery barrage on June 14, 1944 near Caen/Normandy. PS, this photo here was taken on July 11, 1944. PPS, I'd rather say Kurt Meyer is the guy between Dietrich and Mohnke, not the one to put on the medal.
