Maybe these guys are even fresher than Barbarossa. At least according to LIFE magazine, this is German infantry resting during their advance from Holland to Belgium, May 1940.

If so then they would really need their sleep for what was coming.

Well, probably the picture is from an early stage of Operation Barbarossa this means that the infantry's main task was trying to catch up with the advancing tank forces.

They look like "New Guys" fresh recruits catching some Z's. Notice how clean their uniforms and boots are, Their fresh haircuts and no cuts or scrapes visible. I'll bet they haven't seen any action yet.

These guys are SLEEPING!! There are no wounds or blood and dead guys rarely are smoking cigarets. Just totally exhausted troops guys.

They must be catching ZZzzz's. Note the lit cigarette that one of the soldiers has bout 3 up from the bottom, to the right. Great pic though.

THEY ARE TAKING A QUICK ZZZS FOR ONE THERE IS NO BLOOD AND ALL LIMBS ARE IN PLACE AND AT WAR U TAKE ADVANTAGE OF ANY SLEEP.
