MG34 fired at aprox 600 RPM, so this 50 round belt in the box lasted abouth the halh that long as teh 100 round belt on M60 or FN Mag (GMPG). Vith Mg 42 vas diferent deal, 50 round belt lasted wery short, so the drum mags vas rarely used.

Normally MG34 ammunition was fed straight from the box but this gun has a circular magazine fitted. Considering the weapon's voracious appetite, the magazine will soon be empty.

The MG-34 could also fire semi-automatic, which was much more accurate at long distances and used much less ammo. The MG-42 had no such feature.
