Thanks, Schuultz, I see now...that makes sense. Just confused, because it doesn't look like December weather in Russia...maybe it was taken earlier and sent like a postcard, at this later date?

No, it's during the initial offensive. You're probably confused by the German writing of the date. In Germany, you write it Day/Month/Year, not Month/Day/Year as in the US. It's actually the 4th of December, 1941.

Isn't this date prior to when Operation Barbarossa was launched?
