Itis in fact the B-49, flying shortly after WWII over the Muroc Army Air Force Base now known as Edwards Air Force base. In honer of Capt Edwards who was killed while flying one of these very airplanes.

The Germans had a viable flying wing plane with a prop engine and were in the works on one that worked with jet engines during WWII. This is very likely the spawn of that, as is the modern day stealth bomber.
