Man of Stoat you should quote full paragraphs or all relevent sentances not just bits e.g.

So you think Erwin's country is worth invading? I know you don't think so but it is easy to make it appear so by only quoting bits.

Huhummm.....I was meaning that if you already have trained pilots for carriers operations and you buy carrier based aircraft you need to have a carrier to mantain this level of equipment in the navy.

PzKnacker, I fully understand and applaud your patriotism but there are actually a number of members with a vast range of practical experience in military matters rather than a most praiseworthy interest in the subject.
These gentlemen have tried to explain as gently as possible that carriers are very, very expensive - not to purchase so much but to maintain.

1000' suggested an eminently workable and tested solution at a fraction of the price.
Admittedly it does not have the undoubted immediate attraction of a large flagship with it's attendant covey of support and defence ships, but one must ask what would be the purpose of such a fleet when there are other less glamorous projects which the same money could - or perhaps should - be spent.

I fully undestand that, but I dont understand the question like " why you need a carrier"....or the tremendous worry that some members have for our finances.

Now, and please don't take this as a criticism, I realise that machismo is a facet of the Latin-American character and that it is important for you to have the respect of your neighbours

I am not a Machist....I am macho...that is not the same.

but the bottom line is that Argentina does not actually need a force projection capability
That is a opinion not a fact.

Let him believe that his country is important enough to be invaded
M.o.S..that comment....is not very fortunate one, you could easily save it.

Lather I show you tha expensive things that Chile has bought, but off course nobody says nothing to the chileans.

    Let's put this simply then.

Why does Argentina want an aircraft carrier?

Nope, on second thoughts, I can't be bothered with this. It's like talking to IRONCHILD sometimes.

    No its not!

Why does any country need a carrier. Only the US has real carriers, then the French with a baby carrier.

I would say why does the UK need any, but that would be very off topic here.

Please discuss the Argentine military, and if you have no interest other than trying to wind up the Argentinians here, I will be polite and say, please dont....

I dont quiet follow, Do you try to mean that the U.S and U.K are the only countries that really need a Carrier ?

BTW, I will not consider the Charles de Gaulle a baby carrier, not even the lesser Clemenceaus.

Dont remember "wind up" any member of this forum in any of my 170 post.

I do get "wind up" by comments like:

"Let him believe that his country is important enough to be invaded"

...or pictures like the toy ( wich was suposed to be the future argentine carrier) that put 1000yrdstare.

Because we have a government leaded by ex-guerrillas soldiers, who are agaisnt the improvement of the military forces in order to get revenge of the military goverment from 1976 to 1983. That's why.

I thought you said that they were young idealists and not guerrilleros!, to be truly, the best time for the armed forces (When they were bigger), wasn't during the junta?,remember 1978 and Chile-Argentina non football match.

    Greetings
