    Default Camoflauge uniform help!

    Hello All,
I recently came across a WWII Marine camouflage uniform that I am completely unfamiliar with. It has no tags on it and is made of the same material that a mosquito net would be made of. The only possible mention of it I can find on the internet is from a book called "Grunt Gear" by Alec S. Tulkof. Could this possibly be the experimental uniform mentioned in the book and if so, what do you think the value would be? Thank you in advance for any assistance you can give me. Pictures available.

    Here are some pictures:

I have no idea what the value would be, but you might want to contact your local major Army Navy Surplus store and start there. They might even have contact with more serious collectors...

Thanks for the tips. I'm asking around on a few forums for any info I can get on this uniform. It has me stumped so far. I'm starting to think that it may be some sort of pullover to be worn over a standard uniform. Perhaps for a sniper. There are no pockets, only slits which would allow access pockets. The smock has a zipper (Talon) front and the pants have a drawstring waist. The hood also has a flap, made of the same material, that can be worn over the face.

What leads you to believe it a USMC WWII uniform? Was there some identifying feature not apparent in the photos? Just wondering.

I'm going off of the camo pattern mainly I guess. I really don't know for sure though.

It should be noted that the U.S. Army used camouflage in the European Theater of Operations during the Normandy campaign on a limited bases. There's a thread around here on it somewhere...

From what I have read, many of the Allies considered anyone wearing camouflage to be a German and there were a lot of instances of "friendly fire."

That is pretty much the case, they were withdrawn fairly rapidly...
