Re: the photo of the Mexican Airman standing next to the piece of a tailsection with the Fighting Cock emblem on it. I have seen this man identified as Second Sgt Manuel Alcantara, a former US Airborne Infantryman credited with combat jumps on "...Casablanca, Bizerte, and Sicily" prior to being honorably discharged from the US Army to join the Mexican Air Force. He appears to be a most interesting figure and I would very much like to know more about him. Can anyone help?

    That should be the one:

I've never heard of him so, out of curiosity, I Googled Manuel Alcantara but most of the returns came back in Spanish.

We have a member who speaks and reads Spanish so I've PM'ed him to ask him to assist you.

Out of curiosity too from reading your post I did the same. From what I can understand the "Manuel Alcantara" that pops up on google is a Spaniard who was some kind of poet.

Okay, when I do the search in spanish I keep receiving results form the poet guy wich obviously is not the one.

In desperation I added the words escuadron de caza, fighter squadron and finally I found a mexican small arms forum talking about the 201 sqn operating over Philipines. In that ( page 2, post 6th ) is mentioned that the guy in the picture is the misterious Alcantara, but no more information about him. Sorry but that is all I ve found.
