The page you arrive shows the "most recent" images uploaded to the site; on the left-hand side of your screen, there is a menu of links to take you to different sections, such as a German Forces Section, Polish Forces Section, etc. (Note: usually the links at the very top of the list are ads, and won't take you to any site images! You can usually identify them by their names, but at least as of today, the upper-most link to a photo section of this site is "Ancestor Photos."

I don't actually "own" the photos, at least in the sense of having original images or film negatives. Some images are ones I've scanned in from books, but most are scans that I've found on the Internet. I have several thousand images, although there are quite a few duplicates among them. I weed those out as I go along, but it will take a while to get them all.

Regarding stevey, well he WAS (briefly) banned from this part of the forum. That is probably why he doesn't make many posts here. In the photo section, the mods either will not or can not ban him, although I understand several people have urged them to do so. Some people say there is a technical problem they have to solve before he can be banned, but I don't know if that is still accurate.

Regarding Rising Sun, don't let it up set you. I don't know if you will ever get along or not, but I will say that things change with time, and that stranger things have happened in the world. Remember that we all sometimes feel that some one is trying to be nasty to us -- sometimes we're right, but other times there's just a misunderstanding. Time tends to sort these things out. But for the record, I don't think RS and stevey are related!

No, we weren't affected by Hurricane Ike. Initially the path of the hurricane would have put it towards San Antonio, but closer it got to land it started angling toward north TX. So when it hit, it hit towards Houston and upward. We got about an inch of rain and high winds. (fortunate compared to what was predicted). As for work, we (the crew too) may yet end up going down there to check out the situation. Our boss is going to check it out first to see if it's worth time to go...

Hey Ardee! No, Fortunately I don't have to visit each job every day. (already do enough driving) Yeah, I live in San Antonio, and the Riverwalk is here in town (downtown actually). Here in November, they're going to light up the Christmas lights that adorn the trees above the river. That's always a beautiful time of year downtown. Kind of like the leaves changing color in the eastern states.

Ardee, the device which is put on the rifles barrel end is the "Schiessbecher" (literally translated = shooting cup or -beaker). the rounds fired with it are of course "Gewehrgranaten" (rifle grenades). "Sprenggranaten" (blast grenades) are a special kind of ammo to be used (also with common artillery or tanks shells). Other special kinds of ammo for the rifle grenade were anti-tank grenades, fog grenades, flashbang, flare and even propaganda grenades filled with up to 40 leaflets!
