View Full Version : Need Help Returning WWII Japanese Dog Tags

Hi everyone,

I am hoping that someone can help me with more information about these two tags. I've gotten them translated, but I'd like to have them translated by someone who is more familiar with the Japanese military. Maybe something got lost in translation or someone who is more knowledgeable about Japanese army history might translate it differently than my friend did.

I return WWII dog tags thru my website www.ww2tags.org and I was recently contacted by a man whose father served in the U.S. Army during WWII. He was on Luzon. The man's son recently went thru his father's things and found the two tags. I know these are authentic, not fakes. I'm waiting to find out his father's unit, to have a better idea of where he could have gotten the Japanese tags, so I might be able to narrow down the Japanese units in the area at the same time the American G.I. was. I know nothing about the Japanese I.D. tags, so any help or information is greatly appreciated. :D

You might not get your answer here, but there's a good chance you will get referred to someone who can help you.

Failing that, someone here might be able to point you in the right direction.

Thank you! I'll go check out those links. Based on what I've read so far, it's a long shot. We only have a serial number. Who knows, though, we might get lucky.
