This reminds me of this tale we were told back at school: If all chinese jump up in the same very second we would feel the earth shake here on the opposite part of the world...

Perhaps the soldiers in the picture have actually tried it and are airborne to avoid the local rebound, as well as magma leakage induced by the trans-planetary shock?
