M1 grenade launcher

How was it launch what was its range .What type of grenades were it able to fire.

i know it fired pineapples and im pretty sure there were grenades specialized for rifle firing, im not 100% on this but i would say they could probly get about 150yds out of them, of course these grenades were never fires straight like a bullet, they were instead fired skywards with the gun on an angle so im sure that reduced the distance
