M24 Chaffee at Aachen

Does anyone know if the M24 Chaffee took part in the battle of Aachen (1-22 October 1944)?
How was the soil like in that period, being considered that it was October? Was it muddy ?

I thought the M24 Chaffee's only reached Europe in november - december 1944?
