This was a made for TV movie but was a really good movie about a true story of WW1. If you watch the movie you should soon after look into the later life of Major Wittlesey. I have to admit it is more of an American aimed film but still pretty good. Lots of action.

Plot Outline: Fact-based war drama about an American battalion of over 500 men which gets trapped behind enemy lines in the Argonne Forest in October 1918 France during the closing weeks of World War I.

As the First World War draws to a close, American troops penetrate deep into German held French territory, under pressure from French and British allies to advance quickly and smash the last of the German Army in France. "The Lost Battalion" is the true story of a group of 500 American soldiers, attached to the 77th American Division, who were ordered to advance into the Argonne Forest, against heavy German resistance, and hold their position at whatever the cost.

Plot twist: Their flanks were supposed to be covered but they never arrived.

Sparked by another thread I also might add that 7 of the 124 Medals of Honor awarded during WW1 were a result of this battle. See Heroes of WW1.

Well, seeing Rick Schroeder as a WWI Battalion commander is a bit difficult after "Silver Spoons."

Rick Schroder did pretty well as a cowboy in the Lonesome Dove and Return To Lonesome Dove TV miniseries.

This movie was great. Good commanding tactiacs. I love the part when the Americans act like they are dead and then they pop up when the Germans come by and then they take them out. If you have not seen it. You need to go rent it on DVD.

Yes that was a great part! I also liked in the beginning when the US were in the trench and started charging at Imperial German Machine Gunners. Actually I always like it when people charge in War movies. Especially when they have less chances of surviving the attack:D CHARGE!!!!

Generally A GOOD solid WWI film about a real group of heroes. They could have used a little more help with the uniforms and tactics, but for a relatively low buget, I give a "its okay". The premise was excellent, and well portrayed.
