I havent played it yet, but i plan on getting it this week sometime. Its pretty easy to do, you can download it from the net in a few minutes and play right away, all you need is a Visa card.
Great game, a must have if I look at the screen shots. I wonder if it would come out on PS2, that would be great. I would not be able to play it, I do not have a graphics card :( .

I am thinking this game is only available to play online against other people. I dont think there is a stand alone first person mission based version but i'm not completely sure.

I think he meant when they start selling it in retail stores (much like they did with DoD:S).
I don't know, it'll probably be a while since I just now saw the DoD:S CD's at Wal-Mart.
As soon as I have some spare money, I'm going to buy it. My friend has it and he played it during the LAN party I was attending. He says it takes a while to get used to, but it's fun.

No, but it all else fails, just purchase it through Steam; if you have a broadband connection. I have dial up so I had to buy the actual CD. It's a great game though even with just the bots. I am an expert iron sights sniper :D

If I can remember correctly wasn't this game originally a mod for the Unreal Tournament game? So if you have Unreal Tournament can't you play this game for free?
Yes it was a mod, but no sadly you cant play it for free, only the old mod version.
Now for some blatant advertising :D
I'm a member of Iron Crescendo a Red Orchestra: Ostfront Tournament, we play battles for territories each weekend, 6 hour battles every saturday and sunday to be precise, and we have a lot of fun doing it. Generals purchase upgrades for their armies before clashing with the enemy and plan strategies in our barracks/forums. We love strategic gameplay, and there is no responsibility when you join, it is NOT like joining a clan, you play when you want to, and you don't have to show up.
You really should join, it's a fantastic experience, we use TeamSpeak

to coordinate our efforts on the battlefield.
Here's the link, the main site is down for now, so you cant register right away, but ask in the "tech forum" for help:

I guess this thread was pretty dead, but oh well. RO:OF is worth it! This game is one of the most realistic WWII games out there. There is a single-player, but its is only against bots with no storyline. But this is still a challenge. I have 56K, so online play is rough, but I never get tired of taking Berlin from the German comps. The CDs are out, as you prbably guessed. I got mine on e-bay. If you go this way make sure that the last owner unregistered their CD key first!
I highly recomend this game to anyone interested in WWII. One of the best buys I've ever made.

Hi Churchill, I can send you a invitation to the game, so you can play 10 days for free.
If you decide to buy it I can tell you where I got it from for 10 pounds (free delivery).
Send me your e-mail adress via PM.

Thanks mate. Is the demo a download, or an interned operated game?

You download a full-version which is active for 10 days. After that time you will be asked to enter the security code to re-activate the game.
Ok, I've just sent the invitation. Join the "steam" and dowload the game.
My nickname is "broda". I'm playing almost everyday so we should meet somewhere on the front ;)
If you got any question, send the PM.
Pozdrawiam,

Thanks. I'll download it next weekend, since this one is almost over and I don't want to waste some of the time I can play it.
I'll probably play as Jonny Sniper, like on the BF1942 free demo.

Hi,
i have problem with Darkest Hour mod (Mare Nostrum works fine!). I'm installing DH public beta2, it's installing fine, and when installation is complete i'm marking "launch DH" click on Finish and... nothing! I tried to launch it by Steam, but normal RO is starting. And i cant run DH by any shortcut. Later i installed Beta 1.a, patch it to 1.0b and... it works! But... when i want to start game again later RO again is launching... I've tried to connect to server on 1.0b version, but auto-upgrade takes too damn long... Any ideas what the hell is going on?

I didn't know there is such a mod. Steam sent me up-date about Mare Nostrum only. I'll try to install the DH from http://www.darkesthourgame.com/ when I get back from work. Hope it will run.

I've downloaded the version from that website. I was directed to a polish fan-site where I got the file from. After installation, when I double-clicked on the DH icon, the Steam was initialised and from that moment the DH is in Steam games menu.
So I launched it and it worked.
Still, I didn't join any multiplayer game (lack of time) but tried the practice session. There was no problem at all with running it.
I have no idea why it is not working at your PC :(
