Really good flick I think about a WW2 German U-boat crew. Its a Wolfgang Peterson film. Did Air Force one and a bunch of others. But if you into U-boats its a must see.

Vote if you have seen it.

Awesome film, very good soundtrack. Although a bit long one of the best war films around. I personally beleive that it has to be seen in German with subtitles otherwise you don't get the right feel for it.

Yeah its a great film.
I think its the best description of U-boat life in WWII around.

I think that the movie showed the way that the Germans had lived, in their U-Boat submarines, and the ending was the best, having the two spitfires pass over them, and destroy the U-Boat and the Captian. THAT WAS SOOO COOL

Das Boot is a very good war film precisely because it doesn't show war as a glorious thing.

It isn't.

As to Adolf Hitler, I thought you'd shot yourself after starting a war you couldn't win because you were a strategic pygmy not fit to be in charge of a whelk stall, never mind a country.

I've seen the bit of Berlin where you died and they burned your body so the Soviets couldn't use it for propoganda purposes, like we used the body of your fat mate, Mussolini. I just wish I'd had the presence of mind to lag on the spot.

Unluckily for you, they found your skeleton and have been keeping your skull in a box in Moscow for 60 years. Laugh? I nearly wet myself.

Big up the Nazis all you like. They were losers and got their arses kicked all the way round Europe.

1,000 year Reich? Out by two orders of magnitude.

I finished watching it a few weekends ago on a Sunday night. I started at about half way through at 10:30. I finally finished at 1:00AM. When I got home from school on Monday I feel asleep at 3:30 and woke up at 7:00 that night XD!!!

It's a very good movie, probably one of my favorites. I love the part in the begining when they start singing It's a Long Way to Tipperary. Very realistic, too.

its a really cool yet sad movie. The background music is very good as well as the actor is not as bad as the ones from stalingrad. The reason i like this movie is because i dont know how famous the actors are. In the movie SPR, i know tom hanks is going to do something great in the end because he is bound to have something great happen to him, but not in this movie. Which makes this movie great

I don't mean to wind you chaps up, but why so much passion about just one question - if Steven Spielberg is jewish or not? Yes, he is, so, fuck him - not because he's a Jew but because he stopped making normal films and turned to commercial bullshit. And in this context it doesn't f...ng matter if he's a Jew or a Navajo, for example.

There was a squadron of Lancs seen breaking formation and dropping bombs which wiped out all the crew...
It wasnt spitfires.
Excellent film.
To go through a 4 month tour in a u-boat and for it to end like that showed the futility of war.
