German Army "Goliath" remote controlled mine. It was a small tracked vehicle controlled via wire by a driver and steered to its objective.

Hm... I think that can't be good use... slow and easy target. In Soviet army this problem was solve with trained dog-kamikadze. Dogs with 4-5 kg of explosive and detonator were sended to enemy's tanks. Bang! And all was over...

But... as I understand it was a big problem because that dogs were used to go under the soviet tanks. (They were trained to find food under the tank).

Correct - the German tanks smelled different to the Russian tanks, so the dogs would run to the smells they recognised.

On the topic of robot tanks - I'm on leave next week, I'll go to the Royal Armoured Corps museum down the road from where I am and get a picture of the one they have there.

actually, the goliath was quite useful, more so on the eastern front. Especially in the battle of kursk, where the goliaths moved into mine fields and detonated the mines so the troops could move through.

the suicide dog, however, had problems. It often blew up friendly tanks.. so the dogs proved to be less effective.

 Friendly fire is never good :? But anyway, I believe that the US Police force and the Military incorperates machines like that into our arsenal.

The Germans regularly used remote (robot if you perfer) controlled bombs and aircraft.

do you think it would be better if they used in the following
dont know if the tech is that high yet, but i think it would be better to equip the gloiath tank with a panzerfrust that can automatically reload 4 times. a crew member would able to control the small tank using a camera installed on the tank

No chance for doing this at that time FW!

i expected so, how about putting the panzerfrust on the gloiath instead?
maybe crew can still control it from like 25M away

Yeah, tank busting dogs were not as effective as they seemed. Only tore up about 35 tanks total.

i have draw a goliath tank armed with panzerschrek, just to see how it would looks like and i am trying to find the practical use of this new tank if this tank would be made during the war.

instead of having 1100kg dynamite, the tank
*would armed with panzerschrek that can automatically reloaded 4 times.
*Manual reload is possible in case of motor malfuntion during battle
*A modified MP-40 with 50 bullets inside (slower fire rate to conserve bullets), manual reload is also avaliable
*Small torch light for night operation
*One time Gernade thrower to eliminate risk for soldiers to go into range and throw the gernades
*Mirror installed on the tank, so soldiers can see the corner in rural battle
*Users can take the panzerschrek away from the tank and use it as one weapon
*Perfect to protect tank units against another tank

Sources please.

My understanding was that they were experimenting with this technology and had performed successful operational tests of wire guided anti-shipping missiles however they were not in "regular use" as you claim.

I know they used the Fritz on ships in the Med in 1943:

Most of the others didnt get into service though.

They worked well and are credited with a sinking.

I think this was more the case that after capturing one the brits could jam them and so made them unreliable. I also remember something about the RAF lying in wait for the attacking aircraft who were valuable at the time of launch?
