Interesting, german cinema is taking on the WW2 a bit late.

The movie wasn't made for the cinemas, it's a 6-million-Euro TV production.

Looking to see if an English Sub/Dub would be released, can't speak German, and it seems this is a bit controversial in the way it portrays Rommel.
Could be interesting.

I've heard that it portrays Rommel as a weak-willed individual, and something about him bowing to Hitler's orders a bit too readily.

6 millions is somewhat constrained budget, even for tv, must be the Euro crisis.

I would be interested in seeing this, even if it is subtitled. I've looked on amazon and play.com but can't find it. I think the best WWII movies are the biography ones.

You can watch it -full length- on youtube too...unfortunately only the original German version without subtitles.
I rented the DVD from our local library for free...it's an okay movie, especially for a German production whose main goal usually is self-flagellation.
Some people were disappointed after seeing the movie, mainly because it doesn't come up with the answer to the ultimate question:
"Was Rommel a Nazi or was he not?"
