The Capbadge looks like the Royal Australian Infantry Corps, this was formed in 1948 and became a Royal Corps in 1953.

The Puggaree is of the modern 7 fold variety but I can not date when it was adopted.

Most slouch hats I have seen have the rising sun badge on the turned up brim.

Fairfield in Melbourne were making these hats in the 1980's, the capbadge itself looks a bit too brightly polished to be brass, if it was British I would say it was something like staybrite metal (anodized aluminium) which would put it later than the 1970's. The manufacturers mark is usually on the back of the badge.
