These were often refered to as " Rommel's Asparagus(sp)."

the hedgerows are up to ten feet high in france so the this may be a facter why the glider crashed with so many men dieing.

yes, they were supposed to stop forces from normandy to the ocean wall to make the beach invasion easier. but unfortuantely there were alot of miscalculations.

they really used thesed in D-day which started at 12:46 way before the beach landings many gliders didnt make it they had to take bridges like Cean. a lot of men dies that way

I was watching a program on the history channel and it said that D day started at 12.01am
