I’m read somewhere that Derek Riggs, the man who has painted many of Iron Maiden albums covers, got the idea for Eddie, Iron Maidens mascot, from a picture of a Japanese soldiers head stuck on a tank. And when looking at this horrific picture, I think this might be the one.
Just imagine, first you die and then you end up on T-shirts and worn by thousands of maiden fans all over the world. That is to make a foot (or head) print in history.

This picture is mind blowing. Really brings the horrors of the war in the east into prospective.
