I doubt those rifles are Lee Enfields. If they were, their grenade adapters would look quite different. In addition, the Thompson submachine gun was locally produced in Chinese arsenals. US supplied Thompsons would...

I doubt those rifles are Lee Enfields. If they were, their grenade adapters would look quite different. In addition, the Thompson submachine gun was locally produced in Chinese arsenals. US supplied Thompsons would probably only be M1s and M1a1s, and I do not believe that either model had foregrips. Furthermore, I believe the automatic rifle in the front looks more like a ZB vz. 26 than a BAR. And even if it is a BAR, the Chinese did import copies of BAR variants from European countries. Besides, this picture shows guerrilla troops in Hebei, and it is highly unlikely that regular troops in this far northern province would have received foreign aid equipment, let alone guerrillas.
