M4 Sherman VC Firefly of 24th Lancers, 8th (British) Armored Brigade, in Normandy, June, 1944.  The 24th Lancers (a new formation, in spite of the rather anachronistic name) was disbanded at the end of July, 1944, following heavy losses and dearth of replacements.  The surviving Lancers were reassigned to other British "Light Cavalry" regiments.  Best regards, JR.

Those who had been left behind. Soldiers are moved off the beaches as POW's after Operation Dynamo had finished. For most of them it would be five years before their liberation.
