Royal Australian Air Force’s Mustang in flight over the Northern Italy during the last day of the WW2, May 1945. The aircraft are planes, in foreground the Mustang IV (P-51D/K) KH853, of the No. 3 Squadron RAAF, during the return their base of Cervia, Emilia-Romagna, near the Adriatic Coast. From Cervia, where was based from 26 February 1945, the No 3 Squadron RAAF, equipped with Mustangs from November 1944, flew its last war’s mission, a reconnaissance of Fiume, Trieste and Udine areas, on 5 May 1945.
