this is indeed a very good picture of a heavy-machine gun 34-crew. typical russian landscape i'd say.

These german machine guns were awesome. It was documented that when they would fire these guns, from the sheer amount of lead being released, the sound was almost like ripping a piece of fabric. POWERFULL on most advanced machine guns.

the mg34 was quite alright for its time but it was too costly to produce. the mg42 was a very good weapon with high firing rate, so it was nicknamed electric mg, hitlersaw or bonesaw. of course it a enormous consumption of ammo.

Does anyone have information about where this photo was taken? It looks like the Eastern Front

the mg34 was a pretty good weapon. but the MG42 was the king of all amchine guns. The americans said its bark is louder then its bite. but that was just to have their confidence go up. but really the bite was bigger then its bark. with around 1000 to 1200 is a very high rate of fire. it could out shoot the americans .30 cal and the .50 in rate of fire

The mg34 is the gun pictured. The mg42 was so distinct and terrifying was the weapon, that the United States Army created training films to aid its soldiers in dealing with the psychological trauma of facing the weapon in battle. The mg42 was a costly one though.1200 rounds/min (varied between 900 and 1,500 rounds/min with different bolts)
