It's called Mensur scar after Mensuren; the duel or schmiss. To bad the former Standartenführer in the German Waffen-SS was a dedicated Nazi coz he was infact charismatic.

All very true. Still, a note to the famous "duelling scar" should be added: fencing duels among students was still very much "in" in Germany during the twenties and thirties-as it had always been before. Many students didn't wanna risk more serious injury while fencing, and many just didn't care for fencing: so they just got a fellow-student to scar them on the cheeck and get the coveted "manly" duelling scar! That is exactly what Heinrich Himmler did!

the so-called "schmiss" was always worn with much pride these days...somewhat funny.

"the so-called "schmiss" was always worn with much pride these days...somewhat funny. " Some older germans still do so, an uncle of mine (65 soon) has it.
-
little bit off-topic but "Mensuren" are still fought today in German university towns like Tuebingen, Freiburg, Heidelberg etc by socalled "Waffenstudenten" (that's how they call themselves and, yes, they are not really leftists...) and you can get a Schmiss worse than Skorzeny's ...

He lived in spain after the world. And prepared a special force in spain in 50´. he was a hero.

Hey PANZERKENO, where do you get these gems from? Himmler was a chicken farmer, he idn't attend college where these guys would duel and rec. scars. Your posts, although basically correct in essence, but, leave much to desire in the details. You would do well to read/research a bit more. Mike Rose, M.D.

No he was not hanged, he was not clown nor for that matter was he a Lt. at My Lai. Not that they hanged that chap either, after all it wasn't really his fault it was the nasty enemy not playing fair. No Otto Skorzeny was just good at his job, a bit like Stirling or that Murphy fellow. These things are all in the eye of the beholder
-
The allied called him "scarface" and "the most dangerous man in Europe".
-
who is this flame?
-
Well, potato, there is so much to tell about who this man was and what he accomplished in his life, it would definitely go beyond the scope here. Best thing would be if you check relevant web-sites or read his book "Meine Kommandounternehmen" (My Commando Operations: The Memoirs of Hitler's Most Daring Commando)
